what is compoundable offence for an dishounerred cheque under 138 complaint? if the face value of the cheque is in question is rs 5000/- and some one lodged complaint in court under 138, what will happen? here in such position complainant will spend more than rs 5000/- as advocate/attorny fees and more other expensives. kindly let me know will the court leave him with some panelty or convict him with prisonment with or without fine?

u may offer to pay the amount in the court and you may need lawyer for this purpose. the offence is compoundable and bailable.

If Complainant wants to compound he can do it and accused have to pay said amount in question, when you compound, court will not impose any penalty and u will get principal amount and may interest on it.
