What is role of police if an illegal construction is coming up

How would the police know that the construction is illegal ? We follow the "rule of law" regime and the police is subordinate to courts in such matters. You first obtain a declaration either from civic authorities or from the court about illegality of the construction; and then approach the police for implementation of that order, if needed.

Check whether same is a cognisable offence under local law like MRTP. If it is a cognisable offence, then police can register an offence and investigate.
