Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

If signatures of a person on a document has been done by some other person and the original document is lost or destroyed.Then can the signatures be compared by the attested and certified copy of that document available with the various government departments with the signature on the Passport,driving license,pan card or on an affividavit of that person.

if the document was signed by some one else, then the comparison can only be done in order to prove the forgery but not to establish the genuineness.
