Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Taking back 498a case

My wife has filed a false case against me and my family under 498a, 406, 317 and 34 of IPC. The police has already removed 406 in their chargesheet as being wrongly applied as she refused to take her things back. She wants to come back but now wants me to sign a compromise letter. Please tell me are there other ways to withdraw/compund the case. My prime objective is that our name be cleared from the false charges. Also how should I safeguard my interest from such future incidents, in case she files again.

Section 498A is not a compoundable offence. You need to approach high court for quashing in view of amicable settlement etc. If you get a detailed terms recorded before the high court, you may protect yourself in future.

Check the terms of compromise before signing and get the case quashed
