Well, you can hardly stop a person from committing a fraud even though you may know his intentions.
You will need to be very careful. The situation is delicate. You need to handle the civil and criminal litigation with utmost care and caution.

Re: threat of FIR
what all documents do u have to prove your ownership. secondly as stated that he sold ur property on the basis of GPA. whether the GPA was registered and if not, the sale is not valid under indian registration act. you need to meet a lawyer immediately along with their complaint and your ownership papers and the case if what you stated is true, you have a stronger civil as well as criminal case.
Re: threat of FIR
If the information provided is presumed correct, then you have good cases both civil and criminal. You have to attack on the execution of General Power of Attorney first establishing it is forged. It will, automatically, result the execution of sale deed as forge
Registration officer is also obliged to confirm that the person executing the documents is the same person as alleged. Although I have not copy of Indian Registration Act but I refer the section 34 from Registration Act, 1908 (Pakistan) and I believe the same will be in India. Can be seen from http://nnbutt2000.0catch.com/laws/register.htm.
You have also to prove that I had not executed the GPA.
Don't worry, sale cannot be completed unless three important ingredients are fulfilled, i.e., receipt of consideration, transfer of title and transfer of possession of immovable property.
From the facts, one can easily presume that possession it still in your hands, therefore sale is fictitious.
Feel free to write if still you need more satisfaction.
