Urgent : penalty aganst cheque bounce

Hi,

I work in a MNC. We, a grup of friends used to invest our money in black market. One of my friend gave me some money to invest. I gave him my security chequs. He has no proofs that he gave me some amount. Now the person with woom we used to invest our money, refusing to return the money. My friend submitted my cheques in the bank on 27thn may and the cheques got bounced however I issued stop payment on 19th May. Now my friend has sent me a notice to repay the amount in 15 days. I can not pay the amount because I dont have anything with me. PLEASE TELL ME THAT WHAT CAN I DO IF MY FRIEND GOES IN COURT?

Although ther is no proof that ur friend has lended you some money the cheques issed by you makes you liable for the amount written and moreover he can take the defence in the court that you have stopped payment by the banker with an intention to misappropriate his money. I need clarifications as to what is the cheque date to advice you more promptly...
