Legal Question in Criminal Law in India
Username mismatch - IT Act - How to face?
One person's matrimonial site user name is matching with my user name of job portal site. That person has did uploaded some photo to illegal website. Police has traced the IP address from where the photo is uploaded and they are not able to catch that original person since he has given fake details. So police randomly selected some matching usernames and got my username also. Using theat they got all my original details ph#, address etc,via job portal site and trying to harassing me. All this happened in Dec 2006 and now asking me to prove that it is not my user name in matrimonial site and I was not available in that IP address on 2006. I don't know how to prove this. Could any one please give some solution?

Burden is on prosecution by law.
However, with a view to avoid further harassment or complications, it would be appropriate to co-operate in investigation to the extent possible.
