Hi,

I am hindu girl got married unde r hindu marriage act.My paternal house is in westbengal but i got married in delhi.I came back at my parenst house because of torture.I want to lodge complain against my inlaws and husband in westbengal but my inlaws lives in delhi.Can women cell in westbengal can help me or just because they live in delhi women cell in westbengal will not be able to help me?

You may register a criminal case with the WB police, more particularly if you could allege that any part of the cruelty was committed in WB also; either the trouble started in Delhi and continued in WB or vice versa. However, you may start proceedings under DVA in WB.

Alternatively, you may need to initiate proceedings in Delhi and then approach the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for transfer of your case to WB.

If any part of torture, physical or mental, happened in West Bengal, then you can lodge complaint there.

Yes, only if any part of the torture has happened in West Bengal. If not, then you can file a complaint in Delhi and apply to a competent court for transfer of case to west Bengal.
