Legal Question in Education Law in India
We have 2 daughters studying in Air Force Kinder-garden School, older daughter in UKG and younger in LKG. The academic year for this school is April to March. Fee is collected quarterly, that is in April, July, October and January.
January 2011 we paid the last quarter's fee for this academic year2010-2011. In first week of March we got a circular from School that they have increased fee, from 650/ month to 1100/ month. So parents are asked to pay extra Rs.450 for January to March, Which will come up to Rs.1350 per child (the school is calling this extra fee as arrears). The school had to close by 18th March 2011, to start the next academic year by April 2011 but to collect the fee the school was open till 31st March.
Increase in fee is acceptable for future months or years not for Past months.
I went to pay the extra fee for my younger child since she is in LKG, but the school is not will to promote my child to UKG till I pay the extra Rs1350/ for my elder daughter too. My elder daughter got admission in another school for 1st STD. Why should I pay for the child who finished in that school? Where is Justice here? Why should the school cheat parents like this?
Now my younger childs 1 year is getting wasted. WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?
1 Answer from Attorneys
