Legal Question in Education Law in India
Maharashtra domicile
Can somebody born in the USA but who has an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India, which is similar to Person of Indian Origin) be eligible for a Maharashta Domicile? If so, what are the requirements in terms of number of years lived in Maharashtra? This is required for my daughter's admission to higher secondary school. She has lived in Maharashtra for 3 years. Thanks for any information.

Re: Maharashtra domicile
A foreigner (in your case US Citizen by birth) may not be eligible for domicile of any State in India irrespective of number of years he/she may reside. However, you may still contact the local revenue authorities for appropriate guidance by providing them complete information as to citizenship of your daughter.
However, schools do admit foreigners / international students and may not require domicile.
