Legal Question in Environmental Law in India
Tree Cutting
The society has taken a decision to cut / prune down fully grown trees in my sector for the sole reason that some residents are not receiving enough sun light in their houses. The trees of the entire sector are being slaughtetred. it is sad that trees like neem etc take years to fully grow and just for not getting sunlight , these are being cut ruthlessly. please advice as what leagal action can be taken against such act. i stay in Sector A, Pocket BC, Vasant Kunj, New delhi.

Re: Tree Cutting
You may approach the
(a) Forest department; and
(b) Central Pollution Control Board, East Arjun Nagar, New Delhi
immediately with your complaint;
If they do not act fast, you may either file a writ petition before the Delhi High Court or the Supreme Court of India; or may even write letters to the Chief Justice which may be treated as a writ petition.
The tree-cutting is a sensitive issue; it may not be even legally permissible to cut fully grown trees without prior permission of the authorities; and considering the sensitivity in Delhi, the authorities are not likely to grant permission.
