Legal Question in Family Law in India
1) need to file a divorce petition in mumbai. i live in europe and wont be able to attend court hearings. my husband and i have been living separate eversince the marriage took place in 2007. i only went to visit twice for a total period of 1 month. he basically showed no interest or effort to be together. no children nor property involved as well as no interest in alimony. just a straight forward divorce.
>can i file for divorce and get power of attorney to rapresent me? or use video conference? if so, what would be the procedure?
i have recieved mixed answers on this matter so i am looking for evidence and the quickest way to move on with my life.
2) how do i find out under which act the marriage was registered and therefore under which act i should get divorce? i am muslim so might have been done under muslim act but dont know for sure as it was my husband who was sorting out this stuff.
thank you

If you are Muslim female, you can seek 'Khula' not divorce. Consult a lawyer who knows Muslim Personal Laws.
If muslim you may prefer Kula to avoid complicated court proceedings. You may get clarifications by phone either English or Tamil.
