Legal Question in Family Law in India

I'm a 34 yr old woman, married for about five years. My husband's mother is schezophrenic...My family was totally unaware of this fact before I got married.Met my husband through a matrimonial site, but not that i married him blindly. My parents went to his house (in west india back then) ,so they met my husband's mom first. However,as ill-fate may have it, my husband's mom switches between bad and good mood very easily. So no suspicion occured.Anyways, once the married took place i'd to shift with my in-laws( husband's mom and younger sister). less than a month taht i first became aware of her horrific nature. She started to warn me that "my husband is so and so's son (father in law's name ) and dont think they have no riches ..nobody dare take him away from her"..(.with open hair...horrifying bulging out eyes and anger in her loud voice ) anyways i'm the only daughter of my parents ..no pampered but unaware about this aspect of life ..i got totally terrified ... and that was the day that was the beginning of the next 2-3 years of painful saga that still continues though with a break of 1 to 1.5 yrs of solace and peace (when my spouse decided that she 'd to go away to thir paternal house in north-east) guess the comment box would be too small to mention the everyday events ( like, i was forbidden to enter the kitchen and even prepare a cup of tea from my husband..she feared i would poison her son; I am still forbidden to leave my husband till the door when he leaves for his office; she 's a filthy dirty person, though was a nurse during her hey-days before marriage, this dirtiness adds on like oil on fire, resulting in chronic stress on me that build , build then one days explodes on my husband ) .well if that even gives you 10% idea about my condition, you would ask why i waited for so long before words came to my mouth..well , i worry for the well being of my parents ..if i walk out what they would go through during their retiring days...my husband for once promised me taht he would keep me away from her. (when once incidentally i became affected by her and started speking to my self aloud to fictional characters) so there was some solace for few years of my marital life. However now her age has become a glaring issue,he black mails specifying that my sis-in-law and she would shift after sometime.now to add on to it all ,there 's another fact that my husband is hemophilic, which though he'd mentioned in terms of factor VIII but not about the complications it gives rise to,before marriage. Now already its too late to think of increasing our family, but even bream of a child of my own and worried about its well being , what id like to know that is there any law in india that will permit me to choose to stay away from my husband's mom once i conceive and to keep my children totally protected away from her ?

fact is , i do love my husband too and he loves my parents.., so taking a divorce can never occur on my ,mind ,,but dont you think even i have a right to my peace of mind.can you tell me of any law that will compel my husband mom to undergo treatment (she's never undergone any treatment of any kind since infected!!!) and i can disallow her from making any contact with my kids unless i want it ..and yet stay married to my husband, please help me otherwise many stress related sympoms have already started making appearance s on my health.if you need any more clarifications. please do so. thanks

ud

I fully understand your situation and wish I could help you. As a matter, the only way out could be to live separate from your in-laws but that may prove costly and your husband may not afford. Any kind of legal action may prove counter productive, costly and harmful in the long run. Therefore, you need to find out a solution within the social structure in an amicable manner. You may possibly try to persuade your husband for his mom's treatment which should be in the best interest of all of you.
