Legal Question in Family Law in India

I am 30 yrs old, was married in Feb 2008. My husband used to physically and mentally torture me. He was highly short tempered. He was suffering from childhood depression. He was impotent too and was trying to hide his impotency by some or the other means. He had suicidal thoughts. I used to always feel he would improve and I even counselled him through the years. Finally it became unbearable for me when I came to know about his affair with another female recently and I thought of divorcing him. I thought of giving him a clear idea that I was going to leave him but he became wild with wrath and started telling me that he would commit suicide. I had already given a clear idea about his behavior to my in laws. I had even told them he needs to visit a psychologist and I can help him if they assist me. But my mother in law has always mentally tortured me and wasn't ready to assist me. I had no option so I just abruptly had to leave the house on the same day. After 8 days he committed suicide on 8th August 2012. In between this period neither did he contact me nor my in-laws. I thought since he was going around with some other girl, he has moved on. But his death was a shock. While moving out of the house I had taken neither my jewelery nor any of my belongings. Now my in-laws are not willing to give my belongings unless I give them an NOC that I don't wish to claim any of his valuables and give them the right to own it. Otherwise they will file a case against me. Kindly advise.

your query is full of contradictions. on one hand you say that he was impotent and on the other you say he was going around with another female. what kind of case the inlaws trying to file against you. is it abetment of suicide or some other case. come back with clear details.
