Good questions. Some of these questions are unanswered in the statute. The Indian Family Laws are also religion specific; therefore, you need to come out with your religion. However, since the majority is governed by Hindu Law, I will deal with your problem in terms of Hindu Adoptions & Maintenance Act, 1956.
(1) Yes, it is possible. You may go ahead.
(2) If someone wants give his/her baby, and you are interested in adopting that child, you may go ahead with a formal adoption deed;
(3) There should not be any issue because they normally require a father's name which in this case you will be providing; Based upon the adoption deed, you may inform the appropriate authorities. If you are adopting before birth, even the birth certificate may mention you name as the father;
(4) You may need to wait till any legal issue arise; The solution may depend upon the problem posed;
(5) You may look for some well known orphanage in your area;
(6) It does not involve any expense, UNLESS, you arrange for a family to deliver a baby for you and you may agree to meet the delivery expense and something extra for the lady bearing the child;
(7) There may arise a few more questions which may require to be addressed in due course;
(8) Not at issue.
(9) You need to disclose your intentions about bringing up the child; where do you want the child to be brought up - India or abroad; If it is a female child, mus tbe more than 14 years younger than you.
I would suggest you to 'hire' a womb and go for a test tube baby. You may also consider negotiating with some poor family who may already have a couple of children and considering about family planning; motivate them to have one more child and that child should be for you. The benefit would be : the child will have 'biological' siblings also;
You are welcome to ask further questions, if any.
