How the alimony is going to decide?
How much alimony, if there is no job for men?
Hi, my friend wants to divorce his wife due to mental stress made by his wife.
His wife is non working women with MBA holder capable of doing a good job.
And she has 30 lac Rupees worth property registered on her name by her father and they are wealthy compared to my friends family. My friend's in-laws have 3 daughters and my friend married to the elder one and the younger ones are un married and they also have properties registered on them, i mean the other two daughters. My friend has two younger brothers and the whole family maintenance is done by his father. i mean everyone in the family is dependent on his father, his father is just an employee getting 10,000 Rs per month and they have a house and 6 acres of agricultural land. House worth is 15 lac rupees and 6 acres land worth 5 lac rupees.
Presently my friend is jobless and earned nothing and he has no property and assets on him.
He has a MCA degree.
The marriage lasted for 1 year and 4 months. My friend is 30 years old and his wife is 25 years old.
Now my question is he bound to pay alimony when divorcing his wife ? if how much....
please advice me regarding the hindu marriage act in india.

as you say that the wife cannot claim maintenance because she is MBA, the same way, even your friend is MCA and he cannot claim that he is incapable of earning. he may be asked to shell out some amount of maintenance depending upon facts and circumstances of the case. it is better if elders of both the families talk and sort out this mess.
