Legal Question in Family Law in India

My brother got married (love marriage) 27th feb , 2011.On 2nd April,2011 the wife left the home without telling anyone.she left behind a letter which was recieved by courier.She mentioned that she is not happy with my brother.We lodged an FIR that she is missing and also advertised in the newspapers about her disappearance.she came back in mid july.her father has lodged anFIR report with charges of 498a.We had never asked anything as dowry from them.we are looking for a settlement outside the court.their lawyer has not put anything about the girl leaving the house or that she was missing in the agrement and he is asking us to provide the money and the jewellery.he is telling us that if u have not come with the money there willl be no settlement.what shall we do in this case?

don't go for settlement proceed with the case. the conviction rate of 498a is very low so don't worry, if you face the case boldy now then they may settle the case after sometime.for details contact 09874753359

u shuld defend the case

whatever settlement that has to be in the knowledge of court ...

proceed with a lawyer... u may be be acquitted..
