case being dragged on by lawyer and other party
Hi My friend has charged a divorce case against her husband because of physcally abusing her . She went to the court today but somehow her lawyer did not turn up and neither her husband . The judge has asked them to come again on 29 th . She is in a dilema as to what to do next . The case is being dragged on by both her lawyer as well as the other party. This was supposed to be closed on 25th last month. But the lawyer hasnt turned up tht day. It was postponed to 27th July - the husband dint come,becoz of which it was on 26th Aug. Now it is on 29th Aug. What can she do ? Would the judge pass a verdict in her favor? Can a divorce be granted even if the husband is not present? Can u charge the lwayer with contempt of court ? what are her options ? Will involving media solve this without complications? Please help.

Talk to the lawyer and if not faithful hire some other lawyer. Apply to the court for time(adjournment).

You can make a request to the Judge for permission to enage another lawyer and the court is likely to grant you time.
