The order alimony can be executed like a civil court decree. Besides a jail term, you defence in any other collateral proceedings may be struck off on account of non-payment of maintenance amount.
Three months simple imprisonment at one time for the default. Order to pay maintenance remains intact and that does not vanish with imprisonment. Besides, your rights in the cases are struck off, your property is attached. If ordered by High Court, Contempt proceedings can also be initiated.
