Child support and divorce filed in india
My friend's husband has filed for divorce from India (Madurai, Tamilnadu). my friend is also working(H1-B) since past one year at california.The are married from past 3 years and have stayed at california only. They have a 2 year old daughter.
Before abandoning her and her daugther , her husband took complete money from her account($50k)..took all the jewelry and left.
How can she get back her money and the dowry paid.?
How can she get child support money ?
Whether she can contect the divorce from california.. if yes.. how much attorney fees would cost.
From if india if she contests the divoce how much does it cost generally. Will she has to make any visit to india ??

1.Where the marriage was solemnized ( place of marriage)and your friends' maiden home town and her husbands' home town at tht time marriage?. I assume that your friends'and her husband are hindus and the marriage was solemnized as per hindu rites and customs and threafter registered.
2. What is the ground on which the husband has filed for divorce at Madurai and the hearing date given in court summons? ( you can scan the husbands' peition and send it or courier it to us). Depending on how you want to tackle this i.e, can you come physically to Madurai etc if so how often for the case etc our help would be acordingly. If you do not want to come at all then defense according to that need would be taken.
3. where is/was your husband working now/ then?
4. You can file dowry/ theft case against the husband if 50KUSD is YOUR MONEY. This would be a criminal case and can be done with your minimal presence/ or without your presence even.
5. What is your stand vis a vis this marriage? Would you like to claim for child/ self maintenance etc
your friends CAN GET LUMPSUM ALIMONY AMOUNT FOR herSELF AND CHILD MAINTENANCE AND her MARRIIAGE APART FROM THE 5OK USD IF YOUR HUSBAND IS STILL EMPLOYED.
