Legal Question in Family Law in India

what compensation am i entitled to?

i got married in December 2007 to an indian who has american citizenship. this was a second marriage and we got married in front of a registrar of marriages in Bangalore. he was married previously and got divorced, he has a child who lives with him and i too was divorced with a child. he left india in jan 2008 saying he would get me over there but then called me asking for a divorce. now he is sending men here to threaten me etc,. he is wanting a quick and painless divorce, i have been uprooted and my life destroyed by this and have lost my job, my house etc and want to know if he is entitled to pay me a lump sum compensation? if yes, what percentage of his salary or assests am i eligible for? kindly advice me as he keeps calling and harrassing me about signing the papers etc and even sent me divorce papers from the States that i didnt sign and i filed an affidavit with the US court saying that i was not agreeable to a consensus divorce.

Pls. help.

Re: what compensation am i entitled to?

The US court has no jurisdiction to grant a divorce in your court.

You are entitled to permanent alimony which should be a fairly good amount, at least 20 - 25% of his net carry home income; you are entitled to live a life of same standard as he provided or could proivide prior to your separation.
