my daughter in law has left my house since last one and half year and not comming back inspite of our verious efforts.now we are thinking to seperate the relations.i would like to know that what is the time limit in the hindu marriage act after which we can initiate a legal action for divorce(seperation period required)secondly,she or her parents do not did not initiate any thing to settle the issue.she is in service and is a earning member

For mutual divorce, one year is required and it is already complete in your case.
For contested divorce there is no time limit.

In case you want to go in for mutual consent divorce the seperation is one year. In case you want to file on grounds of desertion it has to be 2 years prior to date of filing peittion. for crueltythere is no period as such but petition for divorce can be filed only after one year of marriage
What is the status of her husband ? Is he legally entitled to decide about his course of life ?
