Legal Question in Family Law in India

Dear LawGuru,

my question is on behalf of my best friend who is a Indian bride and married for 3 years.

"Can mother in law and father in law posses any right by law to force their daughter-in-law to perform any social events, and attend social gathering or keep relations with people against her wish ?

further, can they force their daughter-in-law to do something or not do something against her wish ?

Most Imp : Can in-laws pressurize their daughter-in-law to not call or meet her parents and siblings ?

I appreciate some light on the issue. thanks

No, the in-laws have no right to dictate any terms to the bride. She is entitled to ignore their 'advice'/'instructions' and may loge a complaint with the local police, if she is tortured.
