Legal Question in Family Law in India

dear sir, i have filed for divorce on grounds of cruelty in 2009 & the case is going on.The next obvious step by the girl is a claim for maintenance/alimony.How can i avoid the payment of maintenance / alimony? what steps do i need to take to counter the claims for alimony/maintenance? she is well educated & was running a physiotherapy clinic. She has recenlty shut down the clinic to show dependency. please advise.

Instead of trying to avoid your legal responsibility, you should better try to settle alimony matter amicably by out of court settlement.

in case she is capable of earning by running a clinic, you may prove this fact before the court in order to get relief.
