Legal Question in Family Law in India
Dear Sir, I am a student of F.Y.LL.B. (5 year law course of Mumbai University). In the subject 'Legal Writing and Legal Language', we are taught that one cant change his religion from Hindu to Islam for making more than one marriage, and for reference, professor gave the example of Sarla Mudgal v/s Union Of India. In this case, the husband of Sarla Mudgal changed his religion to Islam as according to Mohmmedan Law husband can make marriage with four women at a time. I know that this is not allowed now. But my query is that if one Hindu man has already married, can he live with another women under live in relationship? And what will happen if the legal wife of that man filed a suite against this? My another query is why there is no uniformed civil code in India for all religions and castes?
