Legal Question in Family Law in India

Dear sir,I have a one quation i live with one lady near 7 year without marriage(Livein-relation),she is older than me near 8 years.I put her name as a wife in ration card and my passport.she is divorcee before she had a one child before.satuation is that know i am working in out of india when i go back first time then let me know that she makes a relation to another person.She cheat me so decide that i leave her i consult to lawyer as per him we have to put divorce petition so i do that and came back here.After some time i share this thing to some one they told why u put divorce petition if you dont merry her before,i think they are very right their is no marriage between us no proof,no registration any where,but perticuler pepers have entry as a wife (ration card,Passport)so know my mind fully stuck i dont know what can i do.Withdraw my current petition or go ahead with this.its a totally mis guided by my lawyer he stuck me more.
Sir please give a advice to came out from this buden i want to marry with another and settle the life is it possible to any how? if their is option to convert the religion than merry i ready to do this.

Dear Raj

The filing of Divorce petition was wrong and a mistake. Its problematic that you got her name included in ration card and other documents. How could you manage that without marriage proof? You should have left her alone. You needed to have thought only if had chosen to take any action.Ration card and other documents will presumably establish that you are husband and wife. Right now, I wud not advise you to take back the divorce petition before seeing upon which ground you have filed it. You can come out of this situation. But we need to move carefully.
