Legal Question in Family Law in India

Dear Sir,
One of my clsoe friend married in September 2009. Maried life was going on smooth for 2 months only. After that started some problem between the couple. Wife informed to her house also about the problem. After some time wife's mother took the decision to separate, but husband side nobody is interested to separate. Wife's side continously insisting to separate, so one day both parties gathered in place and separated. Some of the things given willingly by wife's side also return back to wife's house. All the things details are written in the bond paper, and husband signed as returned and wife signed as received.
May be after 30 days through some body's idea husband and wife ready join and run the family. But the wife's mother not at all interested. One day wife went to her husband's house without taking any things which ever earlier given willingly and now they are happy and runnig the family. But financially very poor. If the things returned to them, it will be very useful to them.
Please help me legally to get things what ever they given earlier. I don't know it will come under dowry harrasement. Wife asking to her mother, they are not giving. Also they given one two wheeler and it is on wife's name and RC book with wife only. Please give me an idea. In between wife itself gave one complaint to police the get things, but police refused and they said it may come under dowry. Please help for my friend to have happy life.

she can file case against her mother and father u/s 406 through a private complaint in court.

As the gifts giving in the marriage are articles belongs to married lady only and no one can take it back.
