He used to beat me and so I even called US police. Now I want to file case against him. but my parents not letting me as legal case in india take many years. Is there a way we can speeden up the legal process so the prime years of my life are not wasted in getting a wrong doer punished. I read somewhere that there is a time limit for closing a domestic violence case. IS it true. Please somebody guide me as I wwant my husband and inlaws to be punished for spoiling my life and also dont want to waste lot of my time.

as per Domestic Violence Act, the complaint should be disposed off within 60 days but due to less number of judges and more complaints pouring in, the disposal gets delayed by a few months. in case you hire a lawyer who repeatedly reminds the court that the complaint needs to be disposed off sooner, there are bright chances of you getting justice without wasting your precious years.
You may make a complaint with the local police u/s 498-A IPC and may also seek appropriate monetary compensation under the D.V.A.
