Depression case
My daughter had love affair with a boy in her college and later he left her for dowry. His family and friends harassed her so much that is got into depression. She is now under treatment in nimhans. Can we proceed legally againist him for the damage done to my daughter

Your statement may be incomplete. If complete facts are given, we may be in a position to provide you better guidance.
On the incomplete facts disclosed by you, the boy in question may not be guilty of any offence in law.
However, if he had established physical relationship with your daughter with a FALSE PROMISE of marriage, he may be guilty of cheating and rape.
If your daughter had developed a 'live in' relationship with her boy-friend, appropriate legal action under Domestic Violence Act may be maintainable.
