Legal Question in Family Law in India
Divorce and Alimony
I am the same one who has talked about the mutual divorce i have had with my wife 20 years ago. At that time she did not ask for any alimony and i have not paid too becos she was well placed and earning enough. The court also did not direct to pay anything. Now she claims for all these years - is she legally eligible to get anything from me

Re: Divorce and Alimony
legally a divorced wife is also entitled for maintenance, however if earlier you have paid her all the maintenance or alimony she is not entitled to any thing.
Just go though the mutual agreement at the time of divorce between you.
Re: Divorce and Alimony
No. However, if now she does not have sufficients means to support herself, she may claim maintenance from now onwards.
Re: Divorce and Alimony
No,she is not eligible for that in any way,but you have not mentioned about any offsprings.
Re: Divorce and Alimony
if in the mutual consent divorce she had mentioned that she will not claim in future then she has no rights to claim maintenence if you are remarried and she is also remarried then too she cannot claim but if she is unable to maintain herself and has no means then she can claim however her chances are bleak as its a old matter and if she is living confortably
