Divorce from American Citizen in Thailand
HI there, I have been calling all sorts of people to help me, I am currently still married to an American citizen, we got married in oct of 2003 in bangkok thailand, i am of indian nationality but have lived here my whole life. in january he asked me for a divorce and after using all my money and making me pay for his airline tickets here to bangkok, he agreed to sign divorce papers but odesn't agree to come to bkk to do it. i don't know what the thai law is like. i do know that i have grounds for divorce, abandonment it's been almost a year since i saw him and he has not supplied any sort of help to me , whether financially or otherwise it's always been the other way around. is it possible for me to go to the amphur and sign papers and send them to him to sign and get it over with ? please let me know, thansk a lot

There are so many facts you have not stated that orevents me to give you any advice at this stage.
1.If i undertsand correctly, you were married in Thailand, if so was marriage registered and if so under what law?
2. Since you are an Indian, you should be governed by the Indian Marriage laws; however, where is your place of residence in India?
3. How long since your husband deserted you?
If necessary, I can refer you to a Bangkok lawyer who can send necessary notices on your behalf to your husband.
