even if the marriage took place in India, but the divorce granted by american courts is legal and enforceable provided the respondent was represented before the court, and the decree of divorce granted be it may by mutual consent or otherwise on merits.

However an ex-parte decree of divorce granted in foreign courts is not admissible and cannot be executed as per the provisions of code of civil procedure.

Any judgment of foreign (including US) is not valid in India.

but you may validate the same by filing application in indian court.
