Legal Question in Family Law in India

i need some help. there is a divorce case going on involving a female family member of mine. everyone incl the lawyer we have feels that the judge is totally biased and in favour of the petitioner. we are the respondents. so much so, the judge has a smirk and a wicked smile whenever she looks at my family member. there has been an occasion when the petitioner has changed his statement after the hearing has been over during one of the cross examination session and when we saw it and objected to it, the judge calmly said doesnt matter, the petitioner must have said something by mistake and that he needs to change it now. that is something amazing. we cud have proved that he lied but the fact that he changed the statement after the hearing, actually changed everything. during the cross examination stage our lawyer asked the petitioner as to how there was a bottle of kerosene oil in the house and rather than the petitioner replying, his lawyer started replying on his behalf and the judge calmly accepted the answer,. can someone tell me what is this and how to come out of it. requesting for a change of judge can be a double edged thing and the next one will have it in his mind and be more vindictive against us. please help.

you may move an application before the district judge for transferring your case to another judge.

I am surprized by the role of your lawyer and would like to know what is his advice to you. Other than filing the application for change of judge, there may be another way of taking care of such behavior depending upon the facts of the case and which I cant advise in a public forum.
