Domestic Violence Act-Question1

Is Domestic Violence act effective from retrospective effect i.e. if ts can be invoked for alleged offences committed prior to 26.10.2006.

The Act is prospective but once a complaint is made levelling allegation of violence, all previous incidents may also be added and the court/authorities may take note of the entire situation for dealing with the offender/abuser and to provide appropriate relief to the victim.
