My husband started beating then i complained to police they warned after that my husband not coming to home he is staying with his parents near by village and not giving any maintenance and also i am not having any job my parents are helping i have 1and half year son. We have given dowry of Rs. 5 lacs and marriage expenses 2 lacs but there is no proof. Now after three months can book criminal case against him and how i have to take legal action for my maintenance and my son maintenance and also where i am living is my husbands house only and now intentionally telling mediators if she come to that village he will look after me. But once he has taken me there he has beaten me more with force of my mother-in-law and father-in-law. There is no police station near by and no houses near by only one shed in the poultry farm. Pl. advise me how to approach legally.

you can file a petition under domestic violence act and seek residence orders, claim your stridhan back, seek a maintenance order for yourself and your son and also seek compensation for the mental agony you have gone through. a complaint under domestic violence act is the speedy methods to claim back your rights.

a) you may file a criminal complaint with the local poli ce under sections 406 and 498-A of IPC and claim return of your istridhan - marriage expense and dowry etc. Your complaint is NOT time barred. There is no delay on your part.
b) You may claim maintenance under domestic violence laws.
