Does filing of RCR help avoid maintenance? Usually if I file for maintenance, how long does it take for the court to give decision?

in case the court decides that she is living separately without a sufficient cause, you may avoid paying maintenance.

Normally filing RCR may backfire; the girl side may come up with allegations which they may be withholding by now. It may be better to make efforts for an amicable out of court settlement and avoid litigation.
