Legal Question in Family Law in India

My friend separated from her husband for more than 11 years now. But now they wish to go for mutual legal divorce. Since husband stays abroad, he has told her to enquire about the legal procedure for mutual divorce and the duration it takes for process and decree. Is it necessary for him to be physically present for filing the divorce or just the papers can be signed by sending thro courier and submitted in the court by wifes lawyer? And if it is mutual what will be the nominal fees charged by the lawyers in India? Thank you.

Personal appearance of the husband can be waived off incase he gives power of attorney duly attested by the Indian high Commission /Embassy of that country in favour of somebody who would appear before the court to record his statement on behalf of the Husband. The total period from 1st motion to 2nd is 6 months.
