My friend is now 32 year old her parents got separated in 1989 infact her father abandoned her mum who had physical ailment and her.There was no legal divorce and eventually her mum passed away in 1995 .although she was still a minor but cudnt get any child maintainance or money from her father even when she contacted him.which forced her to quit studies and fend for herself.can she ask for compensation from her father for wht he has done leaving a minor to fend for herself after all these years . she was a very bright student but culdnt complete her education ?

yes, she may claim compensation and damages for ruining her life and not taking care of her and for that she may approach a lawyer to file a suit for damages and compensation.
The only compensation she has is depriving her father of her love and emtional support. The may has to suffer a tremendous emotional loss. But for that, no suit for any monetary compensation may be maintainable once she has already attained majority. In any case, now since is already 32, the claim, if any, hoplessly barred by law of limitation.
