Legal Question in Family Law in India
Can a Girl claim the rights in Property of her Mother In Law
I after being harassed for Dowry for 2+ years filed a case against my husband and in-laws. I have a 6 months child also.
The house in which I was staying along with my husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law belongs to my Mother-in-law and NOT my husband.
I do not want to stay with my husband and In-alws because of cruelities they have done to me.
My Question Is Do I have any legal rights in that property as it belonged to my Mother-In-Law and not my Husband.

You may not be having any legal right in the property of you MIL; however, you have a right of "residence" in the house where you had been living with your husband irrespective of its ownerhsip;
you are also entitled for separate residential accommodation which may have to be provided by your husband under the Domestic Violence Act.
You are also entitled to maintenance/support and adequate compensation under DVA.
