I am asking this question on behalf of one of my friends. She was in love with a guy and she got married to him by going to a registrar office near her place(not in her panchayath, but a different panchayath). This happened two years back& they never told anyone about it, except two of their friends who were the witness to that marriage. Now she doesnt want to be with him, because he is sort of a controlling type& ends up abusing her all the time& now we feel that he was with her because of her parents money. Now he is trying to scare her everyday because he has the original marriage certificate, saying that he will not allow her to live in peace and saying that he needs compensation. She is feeling very scared, because if her parents come to know, it will be doom's day for her.& now I am feeling scared that she will do will something to herself.

their marriage is lawful marriage. She has to decide whether or not she wants to save her marriage. She must talk it out with her husband. You may be a good mediator. Otherwise she should take parents into confidence so as to contest him and save her self from black mailing.
