Hi,

I need to change my surname after divorce. I am going through a divorce in mutual consent and it will be over in November 11. Also, getting married again in January 2012. Do i need to change my name before i get married or shall i continue wid my Ex husbands name till I acquire another surname after remarriage? Or should i get my name changed everywhere(bank, in office) before marriage. How should I do it? Also tell me the procedure to change the surname.

There is requirement in law to change name. It is completely your choice / discretion. Again, it is your choice whether to add your husband's name or not as your last name.

If after marriage you had added your husband's last name and got the records changed; AND now you want that to be removed, you may file an AMENDED CAUSE TITLE in the mutual consent divorce petition.
