you need to put any request for change of name as after the decree of divorce granted, you may change ur surname by submitting the certified copy of that decree to various authorities including passport office.

The name change is NOT a part of court process. You may first change the name by public notice and then inform the authorities. However, if it is only a matter of dropping your surname (as that of your husband), you may do so at any time and inform the authorities on the basis of divorce decree.

Alternatively, you may file in the Court an amended cause Title of mutual consent divorce petition showing your name without using your husband's last name.
