Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi,I have strained relations with my husband due to his abusive nature, indirect demands for dowry and immense mental torture. He has been warning me if i do not agree to his terms and conditions. I have decided to divorce him.

How long does such a divorce case typically takes? Will i need to be present in each hearing ?

First of all talk to ur husband about change of behaviour else for divorce.

To save ur matrimonial life and to imporve his behaviour u may approach to the women cell or family court and file ur complaint and they will try to made compromise else made ur husband understood for not teasing.

But if u want only divorce then there r two ways,

First mutual and second contested.

If ur husband is ready then mutual else contested

Please clarify what are the " indirect" demands for dowry. Also your matrimonial house city/ district and your parental home city/ district.

In these type of matters full details of actual incidence spread over the entire matrimonial period will have to be shared with the lawyer in order to get proper advice.

in case he files a divorce petition, you need not be present on each n every hearing and appoint your next friend as your attorney to defend the petition on your behalf. however, your query is devoid of necessary facts. in case you reluctant to post them on a public site, you may send your detailed query at [email protected].
