Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi,

I am 43 years old and my girlfriend is 23 years old. Her father is opposing our marriage on following grounds:

1) Age difference;

2) Caste difference, though both of us are Maharashtrian and hindus;

3) I am a budding novelist, and as of now, I am struggling financially. But she is a MBA and has a job.

Would it be illegal if we get married?

What should we do to get married? Please don't say persuade her father because all her relatives have tried and failed. He is as stubborn as they come.

You can get married as per the Special Marriage Act, if you both so desire.

You can get married, all the three grounds mentioned by your proposed father-in-law are not tenable in eyes of law.

You can get married either under Sepcial Marriage Act or under Hindu Marriage Act, as both of you are Hindu.
