Legal Question in Family Law in India

Hi,

My maid (for household works) is married and has two kids (one is 4yrs old and other is 2.5yrs old), her husband is absconding for more than 45days now and she came to know now that her husband married another girl and living happily with her at another village.

As she is very poor and will not be able to support herself to spend huge amount for filing case against her husband.

Can you please let me know, if there is any NGO to help her out, Is there any way out to help her lead her life?

Please provide pointers for helping her to get justice

Any help is highly appreciated

Thanks,

Brinda,

Hyderabad

every woman, irrespective of her economic status, is entitled to free legal aid, including court expenses from state. All you need to do is to guide her to Andhra State Legal Services Authority office (which normally is in court complex) (also you may google the State Legal Services Authority on net), where she will be asked to fill up a form (normally in regional language) and she will be given a free lawyer (she may ask for a lady lawyer for convenience) to fight for her cause.

there is a legal service authority in every district and she may contact them and filll the requisite form and she would get the legal help free of cost. in this situation, her husband is guilty of bigamy and the second marriage is null and void, in case your maid belongs to hindu religion.

Mrr.Rajiv is right.

Legal Service Authority will file case of your maid free of cost as it is meant for such type of poor people.

Her husband will be punished by court for bigamy.

She can file case for maintenance also.

Good luck
