Legal Question in Family Law in India

hindu separation laws

I am married for the past 12 years.I have a 7 year son.My husband and myself have never been happy in this relationship, especially me.I am denied financial freedom and deprived of any decision making in the family. Now i would like to separate from my husband and know the legal issues involved with the separation/divorce. We both are Hindus/Indians staying abroad and our son is an American by birth. Please advice me the right step to take in this matter.

Re: hindu separation laws

you can take file petition in indian court for judicial separation/divorce. If both are ready then you can take divorce by mutual consent but for that you should be at least separate for a period of 1 year. If you want divorce/separation as per US laws then consult an attorney of your state.
