Legal Question in Family Law in India

House property related

Hi, My house is in the name of my mother. I have one younger sister who is going to get married to someone against our wishes. My mother doesn't want our house to go to her. The ground floor of our house was constructed by my parents but the first floor was constructed with my income. The entire house though is still in my mother's name.

Can my sister claim legal rights to the property. What should I do to prevent her from claiming rights to the house that was constructed partially with my income as well.

My sister is still studying and she did not monetarily contribute for the construction of the house.

Thanks.

Re: House property related

The facts given by you are incomplete for an appropriate legal opinion. Please write back with following information :

(a) religion of the parties;

(b) sources of funds from where the property was constructed;

(c) whether the property was initially inherited, or purchased during the life time of person in whose name it stands as on date ?

(d) at what stage did you make contributions - for initial purchase or for additional constructions?

Re: House property related

what kind of brother u are who is seeking MONETARY CONTRIBUTION from a studying sister.

i feel sad when i meet people like you.

anyway i hope that you become more loving and sheltering to your sister.

i have to do my duty to advice to the person who comes to me so here it is:

if the property is self earned by your parents then they can write will in your name then the property will not go to her. dont forget to get the will registered.
