Legal Question in Family Law in India
can my husband have the power cut in the house?
my husband and i are getting divorced. he wants me out of the house. he doesnt live here. i have been living here for more than a year now, alone. he has come back to india now and his mother is threatening to get the phone line, the power and the water disconnected. the house is in his mother's name though it was shifted to her name after he decided to divorce me.
if they do disconnect the water, phone and electricity, what would be my position? can i go to the police? the courts are closed in Chennai which is causing me a problem in filing a DVA against them.
pls. advise.

Yes, you may go the police against any such threatened action. The DVA is maintainable before police also. You may also file a complaint with the police u/s 498-A IPC.
