In India can a divorce case be conducted by giving power of attorney to any close relative ?

Can that relative appear instead of that person for hearing before the court?

yes it is possible. the attorney needs tobe duly notarized by notary public or needs to be attested by indian consulate. a copy of passport should also be sent along with the attorney.
