Women only have rights in the ancestral properties . As a matter of fact no one has any right in self acquired property of any person but the same person dies intestate ,then property would devolve upon the legal heirs of that person and that includes women too.

after 2005 amendment in Hindu Succession Act, the woman also stand at the same footing as a man. rather sec 14 imparts more rights to a woman with regard to properties.

Who told you? Woman can hold property as her absolute property and can dispose the same in the way she likes.
